I began developing the concept of Empowering, Inc. during middle school when I discovered the power of experiential education through play during a mentor training. I strive to lead through compassion, creativity, and innovative thinking. For the last decade, I have provided extensive therapeutic experiences to a diverse range of people in schools, homes and community settings. Leading trainings and groups for many years refined my ability to teach others new skills and provide opportunities for practice. Having provided in home therapeutic services for 11 years, I am able to manage programs with a direct knowledge of the realities of working in the field. With additional experience as a sexual assault advocate, and a Nurturing Parenting Program facilitator, I work  to improve the lives of others by promoting experiential education and children’s right to learn through play, their universal language.

My roles as both director of our non-profit,Empowering, Inc. and Administrative Director of Empowering, Inc Services, allows me to work together with our committed staff to carry out this shared vision of justice for children and families across Washington State.

I have a background in social services, coordinating a youth crisis line, volunteering as a domestic violence advocate and serving more than a decade as a Community Services Block Grant County supervisor, providing low income services in rural Idaho. During that time, I attended numerous trainings, conferences and workshops focused on educating families about creative ways to reduce the impact of poverty on their daily lives.  After eight years dedicated to my  role as Municipal Court Clerk, I came to work with EIS. My work at EIS has been enhanced by my previous job experiences, which heightened my awareness of the impact of systems on the lives of children.
